About the position

i3 is seeking a driven Lead Software Architect/Engineer to enhance technical development within the Software and Digital Engineering Department. This role focuses on spearheading the development of an interoperable medical system using emerging technologies and hybrid cloud solutions, contributing to advancements in patient care for the U.S. Army Medical community. The position supports a hybrid work schedule and is based in Huntsville, AL.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance on technical decisions, architecture, and best practices.
• Support and mentor team members, encouraging knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with program managers, product owners, and scrum masters to understand requirements and translate them into actionable tasks.
• Lead discussions on system architecture and design, ensuring scalability and performance.
• Actively participate in coding, particularly on complex features.
• Integrate and enhance Android applications with ATAK components.
• Set up and manage Azure Cloud pipelines for automation.
• Lead or participate in sprint planning meetings to estimate tasks.
• Conduct code reviews to maintain quality and provide constructive feedback.
• Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and stay updated with trends.
• Ensure that code and architecture documentation is up-to-date.
• Advocate for automated testing and quality assurance practices.
• Monitor technological landscapes and provide strategic guidance.
• Represent i3 through industry boards and committees.
• Provide technological guidance in proposal development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• Android/Kotlin development experience required.
• Experience using Agile Methodologies required.
• Experience developing ATAK applications and plug-ins preferred.
• Experience with Azure Cloud preferred.
• Experience providing support to the Department of Defense preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts clearly.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
