About the position

The Lead Software Developer will play a crucial role in supporting the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) by leveraging extensive technical expertise in software development and systems architecture. This position requires a strong background in full life cycle applications and systems development, with a focus on compliance and security standards. The role involves both on-site work and occasional travel to the Rockville, MD site, contributing to the development and maintenance of software solutions that meet government requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, writing, and testing of computer programs and database development.
  • Oversee software systems architecture and ensure adherence to security and compliance standards.
  • Utilize Agile methodologies, specifically Scrum ban, within the Enterprise Performance Management Life Cycle (EPLC) governance model.
  • Conduct routine and event-driven corrective maintenance on software systems.
  • Perform security and compliance scanning for adherence to FISMA and HHS standards.
  • Manage version control and change request processes using Atlassian tools.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in software development and database development.
  • At least 5 years of experience in software systems architecture.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Expert technical knowledge of full life cycle applications and systems development principles.
  • Experience as a government contractor professional.
  • Knowledge of HHS Agency For Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud environment.
  • Familiarity with various application development languages such as Java, .NET, and PHP.
  • Knowledge of automated testing tools like Selenium.
