About the position

As a Lead Software Engineer in DevOps at Capital One, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the resilience of our network environments. Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing sustainable testing practices that are crucial for maintaining the resilience of Capital One's network. You will also consult on the creation and maintenance of various documentation artifacts, including testing results, operational runbooks, and topology diagrams, which are essential for effective communication and operational efficiency. In this role, you will actively participate in technology integration efforts, collaborating with engineering and support teams to ensure that our infrastructure is robust and resilient. You will be responsible for providing visibility into key performance indicators, which will help manage our platform environments effectively. Automation will be a significant part of your work, as you will automate analysis and reporting on network configurations to support resilience audits and security testing. Additionally, you will provide support for resilience-related audits and consulting engagements, and you will be involved in problem resolution analysis for incidents related to resilience. Your expertise will also be utilized in developing automation solutions that ensure compliance with enterprise configuration standards. As a technical resource, you will provide training to various teams on testing automation and workflow generation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing. This position may require some planned and ad hoc travel, although it is expected to be minimal. You will also need to be flexible with your working hours, as the role supports resiliency testing that may require off-hours work.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement sustainable testing practices for network resiliency.
• Consult on the creation and maintenance of testing results artifacts and operational documentation.
• Participate in technology integration efforts to ensure infrastructure resilience.
• Provide visibility to key performance indicators for platform management.
• Automate analysis and reporting on network configurations for resilience audits.
• Support resilience-related audit and consulting engagements.
• Consult on problem resolution analysis for resilience incidents.
• Develop automation for compliance with enterprise configuration standards.
• Serve as a technical resource and provide training on testing automation and workflow generation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• At least 6 years of experience in DevOps Engineering (Internship experience does not apply).
• At least 3 years of experience in Cloud Native technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• At least 4 years of Unix or Linux system administration experience.

Nice-to-haves

• 4+ years working with routing concepts and solutions including protocols such as EBGP/IBGP, ISIS, OSPF, and EIGRP.
• 4+ years of Scripting, PostGres and/or Automation experience.
• 4+ years working knowledge of Network Management Tools.
• 2+ years experience with Proxies, Firewalls (PaloAlto/CheckPoint), DNS, and F5 LTM/GTMs.
• 2+ years working knowledge of network platforms including wireless and SD-WAN solutions.
• 2+ years with Agile / DevOps delivery model experience.
