About the position

As a Lead Software Engineer II on the Mobile Platforms team at Klaviyo, you will be responsible for defining the technical vision and roadmap for mobile messaging platforms. This role involves building and enhancing systems for high-volume message delivery, providing leadership for architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and fostering a cohesive technical strategy across teams. You will play a crucial role in the development of next-generation mobile messaging platforms, impacting the experiences of over 150,000 Ecommerce clients globally.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve systems for high volume message delivery using multiple channels while considering user experience.
• Provide technical leadership to drive architectural decisions across multiple teams and solve complex problems related to scalability and performance.
• Strive towards a cohesive technical vision across multiple roadmap items built across various teams.
• Define technical strategy within the scope and execute improvements to products, infrastructure, or processes.
• Mentor multiple engineers to develop new technical leadership within the company.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on architecting, building, and delivering complex systems.
• Proven experience in building impactful products and fostering team improvement.
• Experience in building and scaling complex distributed systems and leading teams through challenges.
• Experience leading large-scale initiatives across multiple teams over extended periods.
• Strong expertise in both frontend and backend technologies, with the ability to select appropriate tools for various tasks.
• Ability to address performance and scalability issues effectively and creatively.
• Experience in agile development practices, including frequent code shipping and collaboration with product management.

• Experience with messaging platforms and technologies.
• Exposure to large-scale system design.
