About the position

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Sector, Data Management, you will play a pivotal role in an agile team dedicated to enhancing, building, and delivering trusted market-leading technology products. This position offers an exciting opportunity to push the limits of what's possible in a secure, stable, and scalable environment. You will be a core technical contributor responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas, supporting various business functions in alignment with the firm's objectives. In this role, you will execute creative software solutions, engage in design and development, and perform technical troubleshooting. Your ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches will be essential in building innovative solutions and addressing complex technical problems. You will develop secure, high-quality production code and will be responsible for reviewing and debugging code written by others, ensuring the highest standards of software quality. You will also identify opportunities to eliminate or automate the remediation of recurring issues, thereby improving the overall operational stability of software applications and systems. Leading evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams will be part of your responsibilities, driving outcomes-oriented discussions around architectural designs and technical credentials. As a leader in the software engineering community, you will promote awareness and the use of new and leading-edge technologies. You will lead the design and implementation of software systems across large environments with multiple operating systems and infrastructures, contributing to large-scale programs that become firm-wide resources. Additionally, you will foster a team culture that values diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
  • Leads the design and implementation of the software system across large environments with multiple operating systems / infrastructures for large-scale programs starting to be firm-wide resources working on projects across the enterprise
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Advanced in one or more programming language(s)
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
  • Practical cloud native experience
  • Expertise on AWS design patterns as well as plenty of AWS working experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely-related discipline, or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience.
