About the position

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking division, you will play a pivotal role in an agile team dedicated to enhancing, building, and delivering trusted market-leading technology products. Your contributions will be essential in ensuring these products are secure, stable, and scalable. You will be a core technical contributor responsible for executing critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas, aligning with various business functions to support the firm's overarching business objectives. In this role, you will be tasked with executing creative software solutions, which includes design, development, and technical troubleshooting. You will need to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build innovative solutions and effectively break down complex technical problems. Your responsibilities will also include developing secure, high-quality production code, reviewing and debugging code written by others, and identifying opportunities to eliminate or automate the remediation of recurring issues to enhance the overall operational stability of software applications and systems. You will lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams, driving outcomes-oriented discussions regarding architectural designs, technical credentials, and their applicability within existing systems and information architecture. Additionally, you will contribute to the culture of the team by promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect, ensuring that all team members feel valued and engaged.

Responsibilities

  • Execute creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Develop secure high-quality production code, and review and debug code written by others.
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
  • Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture.
  • Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies.
  • Contribute to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
  • Advanced in one or more programming language(s) Java (8+), Spring Boot, Microservices, Rest API, Kubernetes.
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems.
  • Practical cloud native experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiar with Event Stream platform like Kafka for handling large scale, high throughput and event driven apps.
  • Familiar with end to end tests, reviews results and publish reports to stakeholders and product management.
  • Familiar with NoSQL Database -> Cassandra / MongoDB, SQL Database -> RDBMS Concepts, Normalization and Table Design, Queries.
  • AWS Certification is preferred.
