About the position

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking in the OPS Tech - LRCO team, you will play a pivotal role in an agile team dedicated to enhancing, building, and delivering trusted market-leading technology products. Your contributions will be essential in ensuring these products are secure, stable, and scalable. You will be responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas, supporting various business functions in alignment with the firm's objectives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to push the limits of what's possible in software engineering and technology solutions. In this role, you will execute creative software solutions, focusing on design, development, and technical troubleshooting. You will be expected to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build innovative solutions and effectively break down complex technical problems. Your responsibilities will include developing secure, high-quality production code, reviewing and debugging code written by others, and identifying opportunities to eliminate or automate the remediation of recurring issues to enhance the overall operational stability of software applications and systems. You will lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams, driving outcomes-oriented discussions regarding architectural designs, technical credentials, and their applicability within existing systems and information architecture. Additionally, you will lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote awareness and utilization of new and leading-edge technologies. Responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches.
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture.
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies.
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
  • Expertise in application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines as well as experience in coaching & mentoring junior developers.
  • Experience with the Application Owner (AO) role, including risk and controls management.
  • 4 years of experience in multiple modern programming languages: Java (primary), Groovy, Python.
  • Hands-on experience working on Java Frameworks - Spring boot, Microservices, REST API Development, Design Patterns, JPA, Junit, LOG4J, and experience working on writing SQL queries (Preferably Oracle).
  • Hands-on experience on developmental toolsets like IntelliJ or Eclipse, SOAP UI or Postman.
  • Experience with source code management: GIT branches, GIT commands, Maven build concepts, CI/CD.
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies - Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes, AWS, Google, etc.
  • Strong understanding of Kafka, OAuth / Open ID / Windows ADFS.
  • Strong drive and ability to learn and apply new/emerging technologies and strong analytics and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in large, collaborative teams and passionate about building innovative solutions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity / Knowledge: Splunk, Dynatrace, Atlassian Tools (JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence).
  • Familiarity with Camunda.
