About the position

The Lead Software Engineer at Wegmans is a fully remote position that focuses on providing technical leadership and mentorship within an agile team. The role emphasizes fostering self-organized agile practices, ensuring adherence to best practices, and promoting continuous learning among team members. The engineer will also be responsible for improving software performance and resolving critical issues as part of an on-call support rotation.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to an agile capabilities team.
• Drive discussions with peers and leadership to remove technical impediments.
• Foster self-organized agile practices and ensure adherence to best practices.
• Collaborate with the Solution Architect to align solution and software architecture practices.
• Identify and execute continuous improvement opportunities.
• Diagnose and resolve critical issues to improve performance of existing software.

Requirements

• 3 or more years of software engineering experience in an agile environment.
• Strong proficiency in one or more coding languages (e.g., .net, C#, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, Swift, Kotlin).
• Experience designing large-scale software solutions based on architectural requirements.
• Ability to build credibility and influence decisions across teams.
• Experience in formally mentoring others.

Nice-to-haves

• 5 or more years of software engineering experience.
• Master's Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or Math.
