About the position

The Lead Software Test Engineer at Blue Ridge Dynamics is responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of web-based applications through the development and implementation of comprehensive quality assurance strategies. This role involves coordinating testing activities, utilizing automated testing tools, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain high standards of quality and efficiency in software delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive quality assurance strategies and test plans for web-based applications.
  • Coordinate with development and product teams to identify system requirements and integrate quality assurance considerations early in the development lifecycle.
  • Design, develop, and execute automation scripts using open source and commercial testing tools.
  • Identify, record, document thoroughly, and track bugs through to resolution.
  • Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved.
  • Manage and conduct manual and automated testing, including functional, system, and performance tests to meet quality standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with new testing tools and test strategies, and evaluate innovative technologies that can enhance product quality and testing efficiency.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Generate metrics and reports on the status and progress of testing activities and quality indicators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven work experience (min 3 years) as a QA Engineer or similar role with a focus on web-based applications.
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases.
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools (e.g., Cypress, Selenium, TestComplete, or similar).
  • Experience with various testing levels (system testing, integration testing, functional testing, etc.) and regression testing.
  • Familiarity with software development process and Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
