About the position

As a Lead Solutions Engineer at Combined Insurance, you will play a pivotal role in driving the digital transformation initiatives across the organization. This position is part of Chubb's North America Solutions Engineering team, where you will leverage modern technologies such as GenAI and Cloud to enhance Chubb's digital channels and reduce existing technical debt. Your primary responsibility will be to design and oversee the implementation of technology solutions that align with the organization's needs, ensuring that they are secure, scalable, resilient, and efficient. In this role, you will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including business leaders, project managers, software developers, and infrastructure teams. You will be tasked with defining technical requirements and developing architecture designs that are practical and iterative, taking into account factors such as time-to-market, supportability, and business needs. Your expertise will guide the development teams throughout the software development life cycle, ensuring adherence to sound design principles and best practices. You will also be responsible for providing architecture governance for solutions across the designated portfolio, influencing the roadmap and architecture of Chubb's global platforms to enable new capabilities. This includes identifying, evaluating, and integrating new data and technologies to meet business needs, as well as researching and prototyping emerging technologies that can advance digital transformation efforts. Your work will directly contribute to the success of Chubb's digital transformation across the Small and Middle Market Commercial Insurance portfolio, ensuring that all solutions meet functional, performance, and usability requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Set the technical direction on specific projects by delivering implementable architecture designs that account for technology modernization in a practical and iterative way.
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand and document solution requirements and align business and technology roadmaps.
  • Collaborate across numerous agile teams to provide end to end solutions across multiple business domains.
  • Provide architecture governance for solutions across the designated portfolio.
  • Provide solution direction in collaboration with delivery teams.
  • Guide and mentor development teams on sound design and coding principles and best practices in areas such as UI/UX, integration, APIs and Micro Services, application and data security, DevSecOps, and Cloud environments.
  • Develop and document secure, scalable, and resilient solution architecture designs aligned to Chubb's global standards and strategies in support of Chubb's digital transformation.
  • Define application architecture and cloud migration / modernization roadmaps for the designated portfolio.
  • Identify, evaluate, and integrate new data and technologies to meet business needs.
  • Integrate data and intelligence to enable, automate, and optimize key processes such as risk identification, evaluation & selection; rating; user experience for customers, agents, and underwriters.
  • Influence the roadmap and architecture of Chubb's global platforms to enable new capabilities and align with business needs.
  • Help research and prototype emerging technologies that advance digital transformation.
  • Ensure alignment and compliance with Chubb technology platform roadmaps, architectural principles, and standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing technology solutions in a corporate environment.
  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies and architecture, particularly in relation to digital transformation.
  • Experience with GenAI and its application in business solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make balanced decisions considering various factors such as time-to-market and technical debt.
  • Experience in guiding and mentoring development teams on best practices in software development.
