About the position

The Lead Sonographer at RAYUS Radiology is responsible for operating sonographic equipment to produce diagnostic images and providing leadership to the Sonography services team. This role emphasizes patient-centered care, ensuring high standards of medical ethics and excellent customer service. The Lead Sonographer will guide patients through their examinations, manage staff, and maintain operational efficiency within the sonographic laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations, including breast and ABI exams.
  • Screen patients for precautions or contraindications before exams.
  • Obtain and review requisitions for examinations to understand patient conditions and requirements.
  • Use cognitive sonographic skills to identify and adapt procedures based on diagnostic information.
  • Independently initiate additional ultrasound imaging procedures as needed.
  • Analyze sonograms and communicate findings to the appropriate physician.
  • Maintain positive relationships with radiologists, referring offices, and peers.
  • Accurately maintain patient records within the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Provide interpreting physicians with summaries of technical findings.
  • Identify problems and generate alternative courses of action as necessary.
  • Assist with daily operations of the sonographic laboratory.
  • Maintain equipment and work area, ensuring adequate supplies.
  • Manage staffing levels for adequate modality coverage.
  • Participate in staff performance evaluations and development.
  • Coordinate patient relations to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Lead regular staff meetings and one-on-ones with associates.
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations and internal policies regarding documentation.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or Cardiovascular Technology Program accredited by CAAHEP.
  • Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in the appropriate specialty(ies).
  • Previous supervisory experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Advanced registry in Vascular, Abdomen, OB, and Breast imaging.
  • Bilingual.
