The Lead Specialist - IT SAP S4HANA/ABAP Developer will provide IT business process expertise and implement technology to enhance and/or streamline such processes. This position will research and resolve production problems, develop technical specifications from functional requirements for enhancements, and support projects. The individual will assume responsibility for the quality and delivery of technology business solutions, providing high-level designs and quick solutions for identified gaps. The role requires coming up with SAP development options for resolving these gaps and providing development efforts, including complexity assessments and estimates. In terms of project management, the Lead Specialist will plan, direct, and coordinate activities to ensure project goals are accomplished within defined constraints. This includes identifying and scheduling project deliverables, milestones, and required tasks. The position also involves problem resolution, where the specialist will provide SAP support, including analysis, development, testing, tracking, and resolution of issues. They will research production problems and enhancement issues, making appropriate code changes to the system and initiating actions to evaluate issues and develop alternative solutions. The specialist will be a key member of the SAP ABAP Support team, responsible for technical design and coding, supporting SAP modules by implementing solutions for break/fix issues, and providing design and development of RICEFW objects (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, and Workflows). The role also emphasizes continuous improvement and efficiency projects, where the specialist will provide input into the design of SAP enhancements and rollouts, develop quality ABAP code, and assist SAP Functional Analysts in requirements gathering and validation. They will conduct quality assurance activities such as peer reviews and develop test plans to verify the logic of new or modified programs. Collaboration with other teams, including Business Analysts, Functional, Basis, and Security Teams, is essential to deliver high-quality solutions on time. The specialist will also be responsible for knowledge transfer and mentoring, developing and conducting SAP training for business clients and other IT resources. Additionally, the position requires ensuring compliance with SOX control processes for changes and enhancements, recommending and implementing changes as necessary. The work environment is typically normal office conditions, with the need to remain stationary for prolonged periods and occasional overnight travel. The role may also involve visits to industrial settings, requiring appropriate personal protective equipment due to exposure to various materials and chemicals.
