The Lead Sponsored Research Financial Analyst at Emory University serves as a lead expert in sponsored research accounting and financial analysis. This role is pivotal in the post-award processing of grants and contracts, ensuring that all financial activities related to research funding are conducted in compliance with university policies and federal regulations. The analyst will assist in developing and refining policies and procedures for research accounting practices, providing essential guidance and interpretation of these policies to academic departments. Additionally, the analyst will prepare comprehensive reports for federal and sponsoring agencies, ensuring transparency and accountability in the management of research funds. Key duties include reviewing contracts, updating database records, and creating and maintaining detailed grant and contract files. The analyst will also be responsible for preparing invoices, monitoring accounts receivable, and generating deliverable reports. Developing queries and reports on the financial system is a critical aspect of this role, as is collaborating with division business managers to resolve any contractual issues that may arise. Effective communication with sponsors is essential to ensure compliance with contract regulations and reporting requirements, as well as to facilitate the timely closing out of contracts. This position may also involve supervising professional staff, contributing to the overall management and efficiency of the research financial operations. This role reports directly to the Finance of Grants & Accounting (FGC) and plays a crucial part in supporting Emory University's mission to foster excellence in research and education.
