About the position

The Lead Sponsored Research Financial Analyst at Emory University serves as a key expert in sponsored research accounting and financial analysis. This role is responsible for the post-award processing of grants and contracts, developing policies and procedures for research accounting practices, and ensuring compliance with contract regulations. The analyst will work closely with academic departments and federal agencies to interpret policies, prepare reports, and manage financial records related to research funding.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a lead expert in sponsored research accounting and financial analysis.
• Responsible for post-award processing of grants and contracts.
• Assist in developing policies and procedures for research accounting practices.
• Provide policy and procedure interpretation to academic departments.
• Prepare reports to federal and sponsoring agencies.
• Review contracts and update database records.
• Create and maintain grant and contract files.
• Prepare invoices and monitor accounts receivable.
• Develop queries and reports on the financial system.
• Work with division business managers to resolve contractual issues.
• Communicate with sponsors to ensure compliance with contract regulations and reporting requirements.
• Close out contracts and may supervise professional staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance.
• 7 years of professional accounting or financial analysis experience, preferably in research/sponsored programs accounting.
