About the position

The Lead SQL OLAP Developer at SFP Holdings, Inc. will play a crucial role in the design, development, and implementation of a robust data warehouse on Azure Fabric. This position is essential for enabling data analytics capabilities through the creation of OLAP cubes and setting the groundwork for future AI-driven insights. The successful candidate will lead the development of a scalable and efficient data warehouse, ensuring that it meets the advanced data analytics, reporting, and business intelligence needs of the organization. In this role, the developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining OLAP cubes, which are vital for supporting complex data analytics and reporting requirements. The position requires a strong focus on data modeling, where the developer will create and implement intricate data models that facilitate data analytics and reporting, as well as future AI initiatives. Collaboration is key, as the developer will work closely with reporting teams, data analysts, and business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into technical requirements. Additionally, the Lead SQL OLAP Developer will prepare the data warehouse infrastructure to support future artificial intelligence and machine learning projects, ensuring that data is structured and accessible for advanced analytics. Establishing and enforcing best practices for SQL development, data governance, and security within the data warehouse environment will also be a critical responsibility. The developer will maintain comprehensive documentation of the data warehouse architecture, ETL processes, and data models, while providing guidance and mentoring to development teams to enhance their cloud competencies. The role also involves managing cloud environments in compliance with the organization's security policies and utilizing cloud automation technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of a scalable and efficient data warehouse using Azure Fabric.
  • Design, develop, and maintain OLAP cubes to support advanced data analytics, reporting, and business intelligence needs.
  • Develop and implement complex data models that support data analytics, reporting, and future AI initiatives.
  • Work closely with reporting, data analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Prepare the data warehouse infrastructure to support future artificial intelligence and machine learning projects.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for SQL development, data governance, and security within the data warehouse environment.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data warehouse architecture, ETL processes, and data models.
  • Provide advice, thought leadership, and mentoring to development teams to enhance their cloud competencies.
  • Ensure application size, performance, and uptime while upholding strict code quality criteria.
  • Manage cloud environments in compliance with the organization's security policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, information technology, or relevant discipline strongly preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in SQL development and data warehousing.
  • Three or more years of experience in architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, or Azure Synapse Analytics.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing OLAP cubes and data models.
  • Experience with data integration and ETL tools, preferably in an Azure environment.
  • Proficient in data modeling techniques, including star and snowflake schemas.
  • Experience with AI and machine learning technologies is a plus.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of business analysts, developers, and subject-matter experts.
  • Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize.
