About the position

The Lead Sr Staff Technical Writer is responsible for creating and managing technical documentation that adheres to best practices and style guidelines. This role involves overseeing a team of Technical Writers, ensuring timely project delivery, and enhancing the user experience through effective documentation. The position requires collaboration with product managers and designers to understand product features and user needs, as well as editing existing content and maintaining online documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Write technical documentation according to best practices and style guidelines.
  • Manage a team of Technical Writers and oversee project delivery.
  • Oversee complex overhauls of the Knowledge Portal documentation.
  • Ensure quality user experience through user feedback and usage data.
  • Edit existing content and act as a peer reviewer for other writers.
  • Publish documentation as online help and maintain it as needed.
  • Collaborate with product managers and designers to obtain product descriptions and design mockups.
  • Gather information from user experience research to improve documentation.
  • Use source control tools to track changes to documents.
  • Create or select visuals such as charts, diagrams, and screenshots.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Technical Communication, Computer Science or related field.
  • Seven years of experience in technical writing or related role.
  • Experience with writing, editing, and publishing online technical content.
  • Experience working with product managers, engineers, and client services to understand customer needs.
  • Five years of experience with technical content authoring and content management tools.
  • Experience following established best practices for writing and contributing to guidelines.
  • Two years of experience with light code modifications (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, or Markdown).
  • Experience creating visual content as part of published written content.
