About the position

This is an electrical engineering design position responsible for developing hardware within the Space & Airborne Systems (SAS) Segment of L3Harris. The team, located in the San Diego, CA facility, is tasked with the design, build, and validation of custom tactical transceivers. The Lead, STE Electrical Test Engineer will oversee a team of test engineers in the development of Specialized Test Equipment (STE) and will play a crucial role in ensuring that the equipment meets the required specifications and performance standards. The position involves reviewing product specifications and interface control documents, collaborating with project engineers to determine STE requirements and test methods, and developing a high-level STE design approach. The engineer will be responsible for creating detailed system-level block diagrams and identifying the ideal test equipment necessary for the tasks at hand, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters, and power supplies. In addition to hardware development, the role includes managing STE design and build schedules, authoring progress reports, schedule updates, and Estimates to Complete (EACs) for both internal research and development and contract development projects. The engineer will track STE requirements changes and ensure that the design meets or exceeds these requirements. Providing guidance to test engineers in the detailed design and build of STEs, working with software and firmware engineers to develop solutions, and writing STE verification test procedures are also key responsibilities. Participation in design reviews to enhance product testability is expected as well.
