About the position

The Lead Steward is responsible for coordinating and leading the Steward Department personnel, ensuring that all kitchen cleaning and equipment cleanliness standards are met. This role involves training and evaluating staff, maintaining sanitary conditions, and managing daily activities related to dish and pot washing. The Lead Steward plays a crucial role in ensuring cost-effective operations while adhering to company policies and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Staff, schedule, and lead the daily activities of dish and pot washing, kitchen cleaning, and equipment cleanliness.
  • Ensure that equipment, food prep areas, and food service areas are sanitary.
  • Maintain procedures to prevent damage, breakage, and waste necessary for a cost-effective operation.
  • Ensure proper scheduling with maximum performance and minimum labor cost.
  • Recommend capital purchases and cost-saving objectives.
  • Counsel, guide, and develop assigned personnel in the proper performance of their duties.
  • Adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies in an ethical manner and encourage others to do the same.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Two years' experience in food service.
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to maintain speed and accuracy for maximum efficiency.
  • Ability to work well with co-workers and as part of a team.
  • Well-groomed appearance as outlined in the Prairie Band Casino & Resort Team Member Handbook.
  • A record of satisfactory performance and reliability in all prior and current employment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish.
