About the position

The Lead Structural Engineer position at Sargent & Lundy involves overseeing a team of structural engineers and managing various projects, particularly in the nuclear sector. This role requires applying expertise in structural analysis and design, interfacing with clients, and ensuring the quality of engineering deliverables. The position also includes travel to client sites for design reviews and construction coordination.

Responsibilities

• Guide a team of structural engineers in project execution.
• Interface with clients and engineers from other disciplines.
• Manage a variety of structural engineering projects.
• Direct the preparation and review of design calculations, specifications, and reports.
• Support designers with drawing development.
• Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and site locations for construction coordination.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Ten or more years of experience in design and analysis of industrial, heavy commercial, or nuclear facility structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Knowledge of design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering (MSCE).
• On-site construction support experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) license.
