WSP is currently seeking a Lead Structural Engineer for our Pittsburgh, PA office. This role involves engaging with our Transportation Structural Team and contributing to a growing organization that is dedicated to meeting client objectives and solving complex challenges. The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience in structural and transportation engineering, particularly within the West Virginia market. In this position, the Lead Structural Engineer will provide technical direction to a team of structural engineers and will be responsible for executing tasks as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The role encompasses a variety of project management tasks, including planning, analysis, design, and rehabilitation of vehicular, pedestrian, and railroad bridges, as well as transportation facilities. The engineer will be involved in all phases of a project, from conceptual design through to final design, and will also handle the analysis, design, and retrofit of retaining walls. Additional responsibilities include conducting construction staging analysis, evaluating existing structures and load ratings, developing plans, preparing specifications, reviewing construction phase submittals and shop drawings, and preparing technical reports. The role also requires participation in fieldwork, including construction oversight and structural integrity inspections. The candidate must have experience with structural steel design, reinforced concrete design, and prestressed concrete design, and should be capable of leading a design team in the preparation of plans and reports for various design phase submissions. Mentoring junior staff, interacting with clients, preparing technical and price proposals, and engaging in business development are also key components of this role. The Lead Structural Engineer is expected to remain current with the latest structural engineering techniques and practices, exercise responsible decision-making regarding company resources, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as business needs arise.
