About the position

The Lead Structural Engineer position is a critical role responsible for delivering comprehensive engineering services from the conceptual design phase through to the completion of construction. This position requires a high level of independence and expertise, as the engineer will be tasked with managing large and complex projects or multiple projects simultaneously. The role involves significant project planning, coordination, and execution, with some oversight from management. The engineer will engage with various engineering applications and managers to make informed project decisions, ensuring that all designs are communicated effectively to project management, construction teams, and other trade partners. In addition to design responsibilities, the Lead Structural Engineer will assist with field engineering tasks, which include project execution, trade coordination, scheduling, document management, and troubleshooting. Effective communication is essential, as the engineer will need to collaborate with colleagues and project team members to ensure that project schedules and deadlines are met. A strong understanding of ACCO engineering standards and project execution processes is crucial for success in this role. The engineer will be responsible for performing equipment anchorage calculations, vibration isolation calculations, and designing various structural supports, including rooftop duct and pipe supports, riser duct and pipe supports, and seismic restraint calculations. The role also involves verifying existing roof structures for equipment replacement and designing supplemental steel for equipment supports. The engineer will create templates and standard designs that promote cost-effective installation and construction, contributing to the overall efficiency of the projects undertaken. Other duties may be assigned by the manager as needed.
