About the position
The Lead Structural Transmission Line Engineer at Black & Veatch will play a crucial role in supporting design engineering and analysis for transmission projects. This position involves collecting and analyzing data, performing research, and preparing calculations in line with industry standards. The engineer will also develop recommendations for equipment and materials while ensuring compliance with budget, schedule, and quality requirements. The role may include providing guidance to team members and maintaining positive client relations, all while functioning as a technical specialist or in a lead capacity.
Responsibilities
- Support design engineering and analysis on transmission scopes.
- Collect and assimilate data for engineering work.
- Perform research and prepare calculations in accordance with Black & Veatch and industry standards.
- Develop recommendations for equipment and materials.
- Understand and work successfully within budget, project schedule, and quality requirements.
- Assist with providing guidance to engineering team members.
- Maintain positive client relations through effective communication with the project team.
- Assist with business development activities.
- Function as a technical specialist or in a lead role.
- Apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses for problems and methods.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
- Strong PLS CADD experience and proficiency.
- Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards.
- Proven strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to think quickly at the job site and in front of customer personnel.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with the design of utility-scale electrical transmission systems.
- Structural design of transmission steel structures and their foundations.
- Basic structural steel and concrete experience using 3D analysis and design software.
