About the position

The Lead Student Information Technology Analyst at California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB) plays a crucial role in supporting the Office of Admissions and the Enrollment Management Division. Under the direction of the AVP for Enrollment Management, this position serves as a subject matter expert responsible for analyzing data, system planning, implementation, and upgrade support for various systems, including Peoplesoft and Salesforce. The Analyst will work independently and collaboratively with campus departments and IT groups to provide production support, resolve complex system problems, and recommend operating policies. This role requires a proactive approach to developing and implementing solutions that enhance the functionality of student information systems. The Analyst will demonstrate advanced technical knowledge of systems supporting Admissions operations, including Oracle/PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and Salesforce. Responsibilities include advising department users on troubleshooting issues, maintaining system documentation, and leading efforts to develop workflows and control procedures. The Analyst will also oversee the development of complex end-user reports and work closely with IT staff on systems infrastructure and programming issues. This position requires the ability to handle sensitive student issues while maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds. In addition to technical expertise, the Lead Student Information Technology Analyst will provide direction and training to other staff members, ensuring that work processes are efficient and effective. The role may involve irregular work hours and requires a strong commitment to student success and engagement through the use of technology. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of technical information systems and the ability to apply this knowledge in a higher education context, particularly in admissions administration.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze data and provide system planning and implementation support for Peoplesoft and Salesforce systems.
  • Act as a liaison between the Office of Admissions and IT groups, resolving complex system problems and recommending operating policies.
  • Maintain system documentation and keep abreast of technical knowledge related to assigned responsibilities.
  • Lead the development of workflows and control procedures for the Admissions Office.
  • Provide systems support for application planning, development, testing, installation, operation, and maintenance of Student Information Systems.
  • Train and provide direction to other staff members, including evaluating work priorities and providing performance feedback.
  • Handle sensitive student issues while maintaining confidentiality as per legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve workflow and maximize technology use.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, or related fields.
  • Five years of progressively responsible admissions administration experience, including credentialing analysis and training program development.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using both MacOS and Windows operating systems.
  • Expert-level skill with Student Information Systems, particularly Oracle-PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and Salesforce.
  • Ability to analyze data requirements and coordinate data exchanges and conversions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience in public higher education, specifically in admissions administration.
