About the position

The Lead Student Program Coordinator at the University of Oklahoma is responsible for overseeing and facilitating various student programs, particularly within the College of Medicine. This role involves mentoring lower-level staff, developing training materials, and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders. The coordinator plays a key role in the recruitment of student interns and the management of the student scholarship program, ensuring effective communication and program implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and facilitates programs for the College of Medicine.
  • Assists with developing training materials for facilitators.
  • Participates in the development, scheduling, and implementation of the student success program.
  • Assists with the development of marketing strategies to promote programs.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with external businesses, organizations, and schools.
  • Compiles and prepares periodic reports on program activities.
  • Oversees the student scholarship program, including advertising and administrative support.
  • Assists with the recruitment of student interns and counselors.
  • Responsible for program oversight when the supervisor is offsite.
  • Coaches and mentors lower-level staff, delegating work and overseeing task completion.
  • Assists in developing operational goals, objectives, and standards for programs and projects.
  • Coordinates with University offices for timely publication and dissemination of materials.
  • Maintains, secures, and disposes of confidential records appropriately.
  • Attends partner and stakeholder meetings.
  • Plans and assists with new employee, student, and client orientation.
  • Creates reports and program documentation.
  • Oversees routine program maintenance activities.
  • Recommends innovative plans for design or quality improvement of unit programs and procedures.
  • Participates in or leads committees and may lead internal project teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, education, health, or related field.
  • 36 months of administrative or program coordination experience.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build rapport quickly with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Composition and proofreading skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and computer skills, including database management.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations.
  • Strong initiative to solve problems.
