About the position

The Lead Supervisor at Sunny Glen Children's Home is responsible for overseeing daily operations and ensuring proper supervision of children in care. This role requires a compassionate individual who can manage staff, address performance issues, and maintain compliance with state regulations. The Lead Supervisor will work shifts, be on call, and assist in creating a nurturing environment for children from difficult backgrounds, focusing on their emotional and behavioral needs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations for assigned shifts and ensure proper supervision of children.
  • Conduct monthly direct care staff meetings and complete annual performance appraisals for staff.
  • Develop and post monthly work schedules for Shift Supervisors and direct care staff.
  • Address employee performance issues and maintain documentation of conversations.
  • Be available on call for immediate assistance with program-related concerns.
  • Assist with creating corrective action plans for discrepancies noted by State Licensing and/or ORR.
  • Ensure timely completion of intake services and provide basic needs to children upon arrival.
  • Maintain appropriate supervision levels as per State Licensing and ORR requirements during every shift.
  • Ensure compliance with State Licensing and ORR requirements for forms and progress notes.
  • Assist with staffing for special educational events and recreational outings.
  • Maintain communication with Program Director and submit necessary reports.
  • Ensure organizational safety initiatives are enforced and attend required training and meetings.
  • Assist in emergency evacuations and adapt to changes in a positive manner.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required; a 4-year bachelor's degree from an accredited university is preferred.
  • 5 years of ORR experience within a supervisory role working with unaccompanied children is preferred.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License is required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in trauma-informed care.
  • Knowledge of child welfare regulations and practices.
