About the position

The Lead Supply Chain Technician at UCI Health plays a crucial role in managing inventory and procurement for the Operating Room (OR) and Outpatient Surgical Suite (OSS). This position requires expertise in perioperative inventory management, ensuring the availability of supplies, maintaining financial accuracy, and providing excellent customer service to clinical staff. The technician will also build relationships with vendors to seek cost reduction opportunities and support operational needs through effective communication and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a lead and specialist in perioperative inventory management.
  • Provide purchasing and inventory management support to the main Operating Room (OR) and Outpatient Surgical Suite (OSS).
  • Build working relationships with vendors and product suppliers.
  • Seek opportunities for cost reduction in inventory management.
  • Ensure quality and accuracy of financial coding and tracking for expenditures.
  • Maintain PAR levels and ensure availability of supplies when needed.
  • Perform data entry of purchase requisitions and follow up on open requisitions and orders.
  • Provide excellent customer service to meet the requirements of clinical staff in the OR and OSS.

Requirements

  • 7 years of prior job-related experience managing a multiple product inventory (SKU) and stock procurement system.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and maintain an appropriate work pace.
  • Effective communication skills in English, including reading, writing, and following verbal instructions.
  • Basic mathematical calculation skills.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual tasks.
  • Extensive product knowledge, including specialty product knowledge.

Nice-to-haves

  • Inventory management experience in a hospital, clinic, or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of hospital MMIS system.
  • Familiarity with UCI policies and procedures.
