About the position

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Systems Architect (Database Platform Architect) to join the Chief Technology Office (CTO) Architect team. This role involves contributing to the Enterprise Database Strategy by leveraging expertise in both relational and non-relational database platforms. The architect will assess, design, and maintain database platforms focusing on scalability, performance, and security, while also automating provisioning and management processes. Collaboration with product managers and engineering leads is essential for roadmap development and architectural planning.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the creation of architectural artifacts for key technology initiatives
• Participate in the definition of future technology architecture and strategy
• Identify medium to high architectural impact projects
• Conduct complex technology and system assessments for architecture solutions
• Communicate the companywide Architecture strategy and direction to management and systems teams
• Make decisions in the development and maintenance of architectures
• Understand compliance and risk management requirements for supported areas
• Ensure database platforms adhere to established standards, policies, and best practices
• Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals

Requirements

• 5+ years of Systems Architecture experience
• 5+ years of experience in designing and implementing database platform architecture for relational and non-relational systems
• 3+ years of experience in automating the provisioning and management of database technologies with Database as a Service (DBaaS)

Nice-to-haves

• 2+ years of experience in Cloud Database platforms like Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, MongoDB Atlas, or Google Cloud SQL
• 2+ years of experience with end-to-end database migration strategies
• Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages such as PowerShell, Terraform, or Ansible
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Experience working in an Agile, product-oriented structure
