About the position

The Lead Systems Engineer (LSE) for BWRX-300 Plant Instrumentation and Control Engineering is responsible for overseeing the systems engineering and requirements management approach for the integrated control system architecture. This role involves making technical decisions based on safety strategies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards, while mentoring others and ensuring compliance with design specifications. The LSE will also engage in problem-solving reviews and maintain productive relationships with various stakeholders to champion a culture of safety and quality in nuclear engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the systems engineering and requirements management for BWRX-300 Master Parts List (MPL) A32.
  • Champion the identification and allocation of requirements and design decisions from diverse sources.
  • Mentor team members on safety strategies and regulatory frameworks.
  • Drive the use of requirements management tools and maintain rigorous change control.
  • Perform technical oversight and verification of design deliverables.
  • Lead technical assessments and problem-solving reviews related to control systems designs.
  • Act as the primary contact for regulatory affairs and licensing documentation.
  • Prepare technical papers and participate in industry technical working groups.
  • Establish productive working relationships with engineering and project management teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear, Computer Science, etc.) or equivalent advanced technical degree.
  • 15 years of experience in the nuclear industry.
  • 10 years of experience preparing system design requirements and specifications using digital tools.
  • 10 years of experience with industry standards applicable to nuclear plant I&C systems design.
  • 10 years of experience with productivity software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Nice-to-haves

  • Masters in Engineering or second advanced technical degree.
  • Professional Engineer certification in Control Systems.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or MBA.
  • Experience in nuclear analog and digital instrumentation.
  • Experience with nuclear regulatory affairs and design certification processes.
