About the position

The Lead Systems Engineer at Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is responsible for applying an interdisciplinary approach to design, develop, and verify complex systems solutions. This role involves evaluating customer needs, defining system performance requirements, and ensuring compatibility across various interfaces. The engineer will also conduct analyses to optimize system architecture and manage requirements processes, all while adhering to security protocols in an onsite environment.

Responsibilities

• Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.
• Evaluate customer and operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements.
• Integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional, and program interfaces.
• Perform various analyses to optimize total system of systems or system architecture.
• Conduct analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance, and other quality factors.
• Develop, maintain, and identify improvements for planning, organization, implementation, and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management, and technology readiness assessment.
• Resolve cross-functional technical issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
• 5+ years of experience in Systems Engineering.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with spacecraft or space systems architecture.
• Experience in development, build, and test of spacecraft.
• Experience with requirements development, verification, validation, ICDs, risk, issues and opportunities management and trade studies.
• Experience utilizing Model Based Engineering (MBE or MBSE) tools.
• Tier 5 investigation highly desired.
