About the position

The Lead Systems Engineer will oversee a team responsible for the requirements, design, development, testing, integration, and troubleshooting of complex hardware/software systems for airborne and simulation lab communication platforms. This role requires a subject matter expert with extensive knowledge in project engineering and management, capable of managing significant project initiatives with minimal oversight. The Lead SE will communicate effectively within and outside the organization to influence practices and implement operational plans that impact business results.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team supporting the requirements, design, development, test, integration, and troubleshooting of complex systems.
  • Prepare and present technical results for internal and external program meetings.
  • Document and support design verification tests within lab, ground, and flight test environments.
  • Develop, track, and present technical metrics.
  • Evaluate requirements definition, flow-down, and traceability.
  • Analyze data from verification test efforts.
  • Generate and maintain schedule for engineering activities.
  • Maintain risk assessment and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with Project Engineering and Program Management.
  • Support training and development of new team members.
  • Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance meets requirements.
  • Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
  • Conduct verification testing and develop system test plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with nine (9) years of prior Lead, Systems Engineering experience, or a Graduate Degree with seven (7) years of prior experience, or a minimum of 13 years of prior experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret (SCI) security clearance.
  • Experience working with subcontractors and U.S. Government customers.
  • Hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware.
  • Experience creating system drawings, schematics, and signal interfaces.
