About the position

The Lead Systems Operations Engineer will be part of the Consumer Technology Platform Management team at Wells Fargo, focusing on providing platform support for critical applications and infrastructure utilizing Windows, Linux, and Azure technologies. This role involves leading complex initiatives, enhancing monitoring and observability, executing change deployments, and collaborating with various technical teams to resolve issues and improve systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, broad impact initiatives including high-level systems consultation for technology teams.
  • Participate in large-scale planning of computer systems and network infrastructure for Systems Operations.
  • Review and analyze complex technical challenges and escalated support issues related to core business solutions.
  • Make decisions on technical changes and enhancements.
  • Consult with engineering teams on change design requiring understanding of technical process controls.
  • Collaborate with technical peers and managers to resolve systems support issues.
  • Perform Incident Management for complex technology issues impacting production.
  • Execute change management and implementation of changes to production.
  • Enhance monitoring and observability strategy.
  • Create and implement automation solutions to reduce toil and risk of human error.
  • Migrate and support applications in the Azure public cloud.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Systems Engineering or Technology Architecture experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on Windows Systems Engineering experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on Windows Server Production Support/Administration experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with application monitoring/observability tools (e.g., AppDynamics, Splunk, Elastic, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • 2+ years of experience with scripting/automation tools (e.g., Python, bash, PowerShell, Ansible).
  • 2+ years of experience with software deployment tools (e.g., uDeploy, Harness, Terraform).
  • 2+ years of Cloud Technology Experience (e.g., Microsoft Azure).

Nice-to-haves

  • Hands-on experience with Linux/Unix support or systems administration.
  • Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.
  • Microsoft Azure AZ900 Certification.
  • Root cause analysis experience.
  • Agile/Scrum/Jira/Kanban/ServiceNow/Confluence experience.
  • Strong desire to learn new technologies.
  • Experience resolving escalated and complex issues.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills.
