About the position

The Lead Systems Security/Network Architecture Engineer will serve as MITRE's technical lead to the Space Rapid Capabilities Office (RCO) within the Space Warfighting Division. This role focuses on providing expert guidance in network architecture and cybersecurity, particularly in the context of space command and control (C2) systems. The engineer will be responsible for developing resilient cybersecurity approaches and architectures, collaborating with various stakeholders to tackle technical challenges, and ensuring the successful transition of systems to operational use.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the government for resilient cybersecurity approaches and architectures.
  • Develop a network architecture plan for multi-level security command and control for ground and space capabilities.
  • Generate threat-informed cybersecurity requirements for new space capabilities.
  • Collaborate with multiple sponsors, project leaders, and a team of multi-disciplined engineers and SMEs.
  • Provide technical expertise necessary for informed cybersecurity decisions during procurement and deployment of new capabilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a BS in Applied Cybersecurity Engineering, Cyber Architecture and Resiliency, Network Engineering, IT Architecture, or related degree; or 6 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Top-Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Technical depth and leadership in network and cyber engineering, preferably in space command and control (C2) and DoD cyber programs.
  • Knowledge of advanced cyber threats and active defensive cyber tools.
  • Fluent knowledge of network engineering and architecture, cybersecurity engineering, and command and control systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility to execute multiple mission sets across work programs.
  • Awareness of space inter-agency operations and capabilities.
  • Previous operational experience with DoD space system acquisition programs.
  • Understanding of space systems architecture and functionality for requirement validation and verification.
  • Awareness of space systems and missions across DoD and the Intelligence Community.
