About the position

The Lead Tableau Developer will play a crucial role in supporting the Department of Children and Families by developing and maintaining Tableau reports, as well as participating in the software development life cycle (SDLC) for existing and new applications. This position requires a strong background in data management, ETL processes, and SQL, with a focus on improving child welfare information systems in Connecticut.

Responsibilities

  • Develops Tableau Reports based on user requirements and deploys them to the report server or integrated SharePoint report server.
  • Assists in the design and development of database architecture including relational data structures, data marts, and logical and physical data models.
  • Develops strategies for data acquisition, quality, and discrepancy resolution.
  • Assists in the migration and integration of data from legacy systems to new applications and technologies.
  • Creates and maintains efficient SQL scripts, stored procedures, and triggers using Microsoft T-SQL.
  • Designs, develops, and implements ETL/ELT solutions for data ingestion and cleansing.
  • Implements data analytics best practices in designing data models and ETL pipelines.
  • Coordinates with Business Analysts and users to validate requirements and implement solutions to integrate external data with in-house data.
  • Performs tests and validates data flows according to business requirements.
  • Designs and implements data conversion strategies from legacy to new platforms.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of prior experience in IT, demonstrating knowledge and skills as a Solution Architect.
  • 5+ years of experience with Tableau.
  • 5+ years of experience writing complex SQL queries.
  • 5+ years of expertise with TSQL, SSRS, SSIS, or Talend.
  • Experience with debugging and improving query performance.
  • Experience deploying SSIS packages using git check-in and setting up environmental variables.
  • Experience with Transact-SQL and stored procedures.
  • Experience creating, deploying, and maintaining Talend reports.
  • Strong problem-solving and cross-functional analysis skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Salesforce MuleSoft.
  • Experience with Informatica (1 year preferred).
  • Experience with data warehousing (1 year preferred).
