About the position

The position is within the Taxpayer Services Division of the IRS, focusing on workload distribution, employee training, and performance monitoring. The role involves ensuring equitable work distribution, resolving employee complaints, and performing administrative duties in the absence of a manager. This is a full-time, permanent position with occasional travel requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Distributes, balances, monitors, and reports on workload according to established workflow or job specialization.
  • Assures equitable distribution of work among employees and timely accomplishment of assigned workload.
  • Amends or rejects work not meeting established standards and refers issues to the supervisor.
  • Maintains current knowledge of procedures, policies, and directives; answers questions and provides training to employees.
  • Resolves simple informal complaints and reports on performance, progress, and training needs of employees.
  • Performs administrative duties in the absence of the manager.
  • Makes suggestions concerning personnel actions and recognition of outstanding performance.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level in the Federal service, including experience with individual and business tax law, oral and written communication, and dealing with sensitive situations.
  • Experience using interviewing techniques to obtain and exchange information under sensitive conditions.
  • Knowledge of IRS principles, practices, and procedures including taxpayer rights and enforcement policies.
  • Ability to use online systems, research materials, and processing procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a supervisory role or managing a team.
  • Familiarity with IRS technology tools and data security practices.
