About the position

The Lead Tax Examining Technician (Process Examiner) position at the Department of the Treasury involves overseeing the workload of process examiners, ensuring equitable distribution of tasks, and maintaining compliance with established standards. This position is critical in managing the operational efficiency of the Small Business/Self Employed (SBSE) division, contributing to the effective resolution of taxpayer inquiries and issues.

Responsibilities

• Distributes, balances, monitors, and reports on process examiner workload according to established workflow.
• Ensures equitable distribution of tasks among employees and timely completion of assigned work.
• Amends or rejects work that does not meet established standards and refers issues to the supervisor.
• Maintains current knowledge of offer in compromise procedures and provides training to employees.
• Resolves simple informal complaints and reports on employee performance and training needs.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, including experience working with individual and/or business accounts and applying tax laws.
• Experience with online systems and technology to resolve taxpayer inquiries and issues.
• Must meet Time in Grade (TIG) requirements for eligibility.

Nice-to-haves
