About the position
The Lead Tax Examining Technician position at the Department of the Treasury involves overseeing the distribution and monitoring of workload within the Taxpayer Services Division. This role is crucial for ensuring that tax-related inquiries and issues are handled efficiently and in accordance with established standards. The technician will provide guidance and training to employees, resolve complaints, and perform administrative duties in the absence of the manager.
Responsibilities
- Distributes, balances, monitors, and reports on workload according to established workflow or job specialization.
- Ensures equitable distribution of work among employees and timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Amends or rejects work that does not meet established standards and refers issues to the supervisor.
- Maintains current knowledge of procedures, policies, and directives; answers questions and provides training to employees.
- Resolves simple informal complaints and reports on employee performance, progress, and training needs.
Requirements
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, including experience working with individual and/or business accounts and applying tax laws and regulations.
- Experience with online systems and technology to resolve taxpayer inquiries and issues.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a tax-related environment.
