About The Position

The Lead Teacher at First Start Partnerships serves as the pedagogical leader in the classroom, focusing on ensuring that each child is prepared for Kindergarten. This role emphasizes the importance of collaboration with families, schools, and communities to foster a supportive learning environment. The Lead Teacher is responsible for implementing high-quality early childhood education practices, mentoring staff, and maintaining a safe and nurturing classroom atmosphere.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or equivalent.
• 2 years of experience in an early childhood setting with supervisory experience.
• Valid PA Teaching Certification (PK-4 or actively pursuing certification).
• Strong knowledge of early childhood theories and practices.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate high-quality early childhood classroom indicators as per NAEYC Accreditation Standards.
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate instruction that is culturally responsive.
• Create a classroom culture of respect, kindness, and acceptance among children.
• Ensure children's safety and health through active supervision and positive management practices.
• Build relationships with children and families through positive communication.
• Differentiate learning based on each child's needs and interests.
• Assess each child's learning to guide individualized progression and planning.
• Engage families in their child's educational journey as their first teachers.
• Provide ongoing support and mentoring to Assistant Teachers and volunteers.
• Model professionalism and adhere to NAEYC's Code of Ethical Conduct.
