About the position

The Distribution Lead at Southwire is responsible for overseeing the production floor operations, providing direction to the hourly workforce, and ensuring that safety, quality, and distribution management standards are met. This role involves close collaboration with the shift supervisor to drive performance metrics and support continuous improvement initiatives within the facility.

Responsibilities

• Promote a Culture of Zero by monitoring safety rules and requirements.
• Respond to employee safety concerns in a timely manner.
• Communicate safety violations and hazards to management.
• Create Maintenance Work Orders for safety hazards.
• Assist in developing safe work procedures and job hazard analyses.
• Support quality and scrap reduction goals and perform required quality checks.
• Drive overall performance to ensure warehouse activities occur as scheduled.
• Ensure equipment is set up safely and maintained in a clean condition.
• Promote operational excellence and improve customer experience.
• Oversee day-to-day management of employees and monitor attendance.
• Provide coaching and training to team members.
• Participate in Lean activities and cost reduction initiatives.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Good work and attendance record with no active final written discipline.
• Valid forklift truck operator's license required.
• Ability to read, count accurately, and perform simple math.
• Basic PC skills including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required.
• Ability to learn and function in SAP/Lucas at a high level.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills within the organization.
• Ability to adapt to a changing business environment.
