About the position

The Lead Technical Product Manager for Developer Products at BigCommerce is responsible for overseeing the development and enhancement of the company's developer-facing products. This role involves collaboration with engineering teams, marketing, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive strategy that enhances the developer experience on the BigCommerce platform. The position requires a strong understanding of both frontend and backend development needs, as well as the ability to advocate for developers within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Become an expert on the BigCommerce developer community and advocate for their needs.
• Gather inputs from cross-functional stakeholders including Marketing, Business Development, Sales, and Finance.
• Define and communicate business outcomes and performance metrics to key stakeholders.
• Lead teams of developers, designers, and quality engineers towards a shared vision.
• Break complex projects into smaller, manageable tasks that add customer value with each iteration.
• Prepare comprehensive Epics and Stories for development teams.
• Explain details of stories to development teams before and during the development process.
• Collaborate with the Product Design team to design and prototype new features.
• Validate new functionality with customers before development.
• Demo new functionality to stakeholders, the organization, and customers.
• Analyze the product and propose improvements based on data and user feedback.

Requirements

• 5 to 8+ years of experience in a hands-on technical product management role.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical product management.
• Expertise in the needs of frontend or backend software developers in ecommerce or a similar context.
• Strong technical background with an understanding of software development processes and methodologies.
• Proficient in technical competitive analysis, feature prioritization, and trade-off analysis.
• Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate complex technical information effectively.
• Familiarity with REST and GraphQL APIs in an integration context.
• Experience working in SCRUM Agile methodologies.
