About the position

The Lead Product Manager at Northwestern Mutual will play a crucial role in the Engineering Solution Delivery team, focusing on the Managed Investments department. This position is designed for an analytical individual who can drive strategic initiatives, foster strong business relationships, and contribute to a dynamic engineering team. The role involves overseeing product development from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and define product roadmaps in collaboration with key team members.
  • Gather and validate complex product requirements.
  • Define and manage multiple medium to high complexity products and features.
  • Engage stakeholders by delivering key messages and communications about products.
  • Partner with design teams to align user experiences with a cohesive vision.
  • Translate requirements into technical details, including user stories and use cases.
  • Prioritize backlogs of user stories based on business value and ROI.
  • Utilize qualitative and quantitative data to inform product decisions.
  • Conduct current state, future state, and gap analysis across business processes.
  • Assist in coordinating and reviewing test plans for medium complex efforts.
  • Employ project management skills to advance work and facilitate ceremonies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 6 - 8 years of prior experience in Product Management, with at least 6 years in an agile team environment.
  • Experience in formal business analysis, engineering, or testing.
  • Familiarity with BI tools and certification or experience as a Product Owner or Scrum Master.
  • Knowledge of the institutional investment or financial services industry is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in cross-functional collaboration with strong communication skills.
  • Proficient in time management and project management skills.
