About the position

The Lead Product Manager will join the Engineering Solution Delivery team at Northwestern Mutual, focusing on the Managed Investments department. This role is pivotal in driving strategic initiatives, fostering strong business partnerships, and collaborating with a talented engineering team. The position requires an analytical mindset and the ability to solve complex problems efficiently while ensuring thoughtful execution.

Responsibilities

• Develop and define roadmaps in collaboration with key team members to ensure alignment and avoid duplication.
• Gather and validate complex product requirements, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the products involved.
• Define and manage multiple medium to high complexity products and their features from inception to completion.
• Engage stakeholders by delivering key messages and communications regarding products within their domain.
• Partner with design teams to align user visions and experiences with a cohesive one-year vision.
• Translate requirements into technical details, authoring user stories and use cases effectively.
• Prioritize and maintain multiple backlogs of user stories based on business value and return on investment.
• Utilize qualitative and quantitative data to inform product decisions and drive improvements.
• Provide business expertise and articulate recommendations based on analytics across multiple domains.
• Conduct current state, future state, and gap analysis to identify issues and propose solutions.
• Assist in coordinating test plans and ensure business sign-off for medium and large efforts.
• Employ project management skills to successfully advance work and complete projects.
• Facilitate daily scrums, sprint planning meetings, and sprint reviews and retrospectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 6 - 8 years of prior experience, with at least 6 years in a Product Management role within an agile team.
• Formal business analyst, engineering, or testing experience preferred.
• Familiarity with BI tools and certification or experience as a Product Owner or Scrum Master.
• Experience in leadership or mentorship roles within a team.
• Knowledge of the institutional investment or financial services industry is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in cross-functional collaboration with strong communication skills.
• Proficient in time management and project management skills.
