We are currently seeking a Lead Technical Product Owner to join our Platform Services team. This role is pivotal in the development of a state-of-the-art platform that will support a variety of customer-focused applications. The Lead Technical Product Owner will focus on Alert and Notification Services, as well as other platform services built on RESTful APIs, real-time data streaming, and AWS services. This position requires a deep understanding of product management and agile methodologies, as the Technical Product Owner will work closely with the Scrum Team to create and manage the Product Backlog, ensuring that priorities are clear and objectives are met during each sprint. In this role, you will be responsible for maximizing the value of the product and the work of the Development Team. You will act as the key decision-maker for larger, complex projects that hold significant value for the organization. Your responsibilities will include creating, maintaining, and prioritizing the Product Backlog based on business value, communicating priorities to the team, and collaborating with Lead Engineers to break down epics and features into manageable user stories. You will also engage with stakeholders, manage defect prioritization, and represent the customer’s voice throughout the development process. Leading daily scrums, sprint planning, and retrospectives will be essential to ensure the team remains aligned and focused on delivering high-quality results.

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage the Product Backlog, ensuring priorities are clear and communicated to the team.
  • Maximize the value of the product and the work of the Development Team.
  • Act as Product Owner for larger, complex projects with high organizational value.
  • Collaborate with Lead Engineers to decompose epics and features into user stories for sprints.
  • Negotiate business requirements and release dates with Product and development teams.
  • Convey the vision and goals at the beginning of every sprint.
  • Manage defect prioritization and communicate product progress externally.
  • Lead daily scrums, sprint planning, reveals, retrospectives, and sprint demos.
  • Inspect product progress at the end of each sprint and accept or reject work done by the Development Team.
  • Champion the agile community within the organization.

Requirements

  • Software development and/or architecture experience utilizing Java, RESTful API, and AWS cloud services.
  • Experience managing products using Cloud technologies.
  • Knowledge of software engineering concepts including development, testing, integrations, and deployment of software or applications.
  • Experience with the business aspects and operation of digital products, including system software and integration platforms.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and participation in multiple projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Four-year Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, marketing, communications, engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a technical product owner.
  • Experience managing product backlogs using Agile software tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, or Rally.
  • Experience in deploying and maintaining software in public clouds such as AWS.
  • Proven experience in designing and developing software solutions at scale.
