As a Design Lead for our digital design system team at Discover, you will be responsible for leading the product design of design systems that showcase industry-leading visual design and interaction. Your role will involve designing and composing guidance for components, patterns, and all design system elements to facilitate the creation of accessible, refreshing, and easy-to-use experiences. You will leverage both qualitative and quantitative data to understand user problems and develop solutions that continually enhance the design system. Your responsibilities will include the development of products that create an innovative, best-in-class experience for our customers, capturing stakeholder feature requests, analyzing processes, and designing workflows at a high level. You will define and create interaction flows, wireframes, and review feedback on released features while driving new features in web or mobile applications. Additionally, you will actively manage and escalate risk and customer-impacting issues within your day-to-day role to management. In this position, you will develop design concepts, wireframes, prototypes, usage scenarios, task analysis, specifications, and other UX/UI design deliverables using Figma and other tools. You will define and implement a systematic approach to create clean and functional user interfaces. Participation in the product definition process with the team will be crucial, as you will drive the clarification of user tasks and objectives. Understanding target users' needs, motivations, and behaviors will be essential as it relates to an overall, repeatable user experience workflow, journey, or template, design system, and brand. You will seek to improve your skills with a continuous learning and improvement mindset, balancing technical and delivery constraints when creating accessible and engaging user interfaces based on complex requirements and tight deadlines. Collaboration will be key in this role, as you will partner with key stakeholders including business owners, product owners, technology, legal, and research to design best-in-class design system elements that ensure cohesive user experiences throughout customer digital journeys. You will strategize and collaborate with experience design, product design, and engineering teams to identify requirements of digital experiences and design system elements. Utilizing existing user research and A/B testing capabilities, you will present and validate design solutions. Additionally, you will compose and contribute to design system documentation, guidelines, and governance, articulating user experience design issues effectively and building consensus around design thinking and rationale with peers and stakeholders.
