About the position

The Lead Technician Engineering is responsible for the construction, assembly, calibration, and runoff of High Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) thermal spray coating systems. This role involves providing both remote and onsite customer support, ensuring that systems are built and maintained to high standards of safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Construct, assemble, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and runoff HVOF systems with minimal supervision.
  • Construct basic electrical control panels, load PLC programs, and debug as needed.
  • Calibrate mass flow controllers using manufacturers' application software.
  • Form steel tubing, install fittings, and leak check complete systems.
  • Setup, calibrate, runoff, and tear down systems for shipment.
  • Work with the engineering department to implement updates and design changes to mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Communicate ideas and design changes to the engineering department.
  • Communicate with customers on equipment issues.
  • Maintain user manuals and documentation using MS Word.
  • Follow safety procedures and comply with plant safety programs, working safely with combustible gases such as Hydrogen and Propylene.
  • Possibility of travel to customer sites to perform training and calibrations, limited to up to 25%.
  • Assist in the development of thermal spray coatings when possible.
  • Assist in other departments as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general equivalent diploma.
  • 3-5 years experience with mechanical, pneumatic, electronic, PLCs, and electro-mechanical devices.
  • Ability to read and comprehend schematics, construct control panels, utilize multi-meters, and work with 3-phase and single-phase systems.
  • Experience in PLC & ladder logic programming and troubleshooting, soldering, and power tool usage capability.
  • Ability to work from prints, sketches, schematics, vendor equipment manuals, or verbal instructions.
  • Capable of lifting, pushing, pulling up to 33 lbs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and solid communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain a passport.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's degree or equivalent in MET, EET, a plus.
  • Knowledge/experience with HVOF or wear coatings, a plus.
  • OMRON/Siemens PLC programming, a plus.
