About the position

The Lead Technician at Advanced Cable Connection is responsible for overseeing the performance of the crew, ensuring effective project completion, and providing necessary training on-site. This role involves adhering to quality and safety standards while managing project timelines and documentation accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for effective performance of crew and provide necessary site training.
  • Coordinate personnel and timeline to complete projects.
  • Adhere to and participate in all company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
  • Complete all paperwork accurately and on time, including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, and tool transfers.
  • Complete projects from start to finish with supervision.
  • Install cat5e, cat6, cat6A, and other category cables.
  • Install, terminate, splice, and test fiber optic cables, wireless access points, support structures, and building pathways.
  • Install work area outlets on walls, in modular furniture, and in ceilings, ensuring proper termination of CAT 6 & CAT 6A.
  • Mount face plates and surface mount boxes correctly.
  • Certify installed cables with FLUKE DSX-8000.
  • Build closets by mounting and installing cable ladder racking/tray, backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, and fiber optic hardware.
  • Install grounding for racks, cable tray/ladder racking equipment, and cables as required.
  • Complete all IDC connections, including terminating 110/66 blocks and patch panels.
  • Perform testing, including continuity tests on horizontal and riser cables, and troubleshoot issues using volt-ohmmeter and tone set.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of previous work experience as a cable technician.
  • Understanding of BICSI standards.
  • Experience using scissor and boom lifts.
  • Ability to work in cramped spaces.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and fix any problems that may arise.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Ability to identify independent colors and learn color codes.
  • Commitment to completing all paperwork accurately and on time.
