About the position

The Lead Technology Designer at Henderson is responsible for designing advanced telecommunication system schematics specifically for K-12 school projects within the Community sector. This role involves preparing design documents, performing engineering calculations, and collaborating with project teams across multiple disciplines. The Lead Designer also plays a crucial role in mentoring and training telecom design staff, ensuring high-quality project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in developing overall IT technology system schematics to support projects in the Community Sector
  • Assisting in the development of overall technology system design
  • Designing layouts of IT hub rooms, cable tray infrastructure, raceway, rack elevations, and schematics
  • Preparing drawings of system layout, details, and signal flow diagrams
  • Technologies include wireless clock design, wireless access points (WAP), distributed antennae systems (DAS), and intercom systems
  • Proactively seeking opportunities for continuous learning and understanding of industry software, including Revit, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office Products
  • Producing low voltage system drawings and specifications suitable for bidding by qualified contractors
  • Performing necessary calculations and being involved in job site visits, construction observations, and/or attending client meetings
  • Working with architects, clients, contractors, and project managers to create a successful outcome
  • Managing multiple projects/tasks simultaneously

Requirements

  • At least 3-5+ years of IT technology design experience
  • Proficient in Revit (must have experience building construction documents) and AutoCAD (this is a plus)
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of engineering (e.g., mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural) and 11 years of relevant experience, or 13 years of experience without a degree required
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
  • Experience in fiber optic and copper structured cabling system design
  • Clear oral and written communication skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Active CTS-D or RCDD certification
  • Ability to travel up to 15% locally and walk through very large job/building sites
