About the position

The Lead Telecom Designer is responsible for designing advanced telecommunication system schematics to support projects in the Venue sector. This role involves preparing design documents, performing engineering calculations, and coordinating with project teams across multiple disciplines. The designer will also mentor and lead telecom design staff, ensuring successful project outcomes through effective communication and collaboration with architects, clients, contractors, and project managers.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in developing overall telecommunication system schematics to support projects in the Venue Sector
  • Assisting in the development of overall technology system design, layouts, details, rack elevations, and schematics under the direction of a senior designer/engineer
  • Preparing drawings of system layout, details, rack elevations, and signal flow diagrams
  • Proactively seeking opportunities for continuous learning and understanding of industry software, including Revit, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office Products
  • Producing low voltage system drawings and specifications suitable for bidding by qualified contractors
  • Performing necessary calculations and being involved in job site visits, construction observations, and/or attending client meetings
  • Managing multiple projects/tasks simultaneously

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of telecommunications design experience
  • Proficient in Revit (must) and AutoCAD (this is a plus)
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field of engineering (e.g., mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural) and 11 years of relevant experience, or 13 years of experience without a degree required
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
  • Experience in fiber optic and copper structured cabling system design
  • Clear oral and written communication skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Active CTS-D or RCDD certification
  • Ability to travel up to 15% and walk through very large job/building sites
