About the position

The Lead Teller at America First Credit Union is responsible for overseeing cashiering operations and member services functions. This role involves coordinating and directing the work of Service Representatives, ensuring efficient teller operations, and providing exceptional service to members. The Lead Teller also plays a key role in training staff, resolving complex issues, and maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure efficient and effective teller operations in accordance with established policies and standards.
• Coordinate teller operations by assigning work and distributing workflow.
• Monitor schedules, lunch breaks, and track employee leave.
• Assist Service Representatives with complex transactions and sensitive member relations problems.
• Investigate and resolve teller out of balance conditions and balancing errors.
• Perform teller paying and receiving functions as required, including processing deposits and loan payments.
• Maintain an inventory of negotiable items for use in the teller area.
• Balance the vault and ensure cash is secured according to procedures.
• Supervise Member Services functions, ensuring compliance with policies and standards.
• Provide leadership and training to personnel, tracking employee progress and performance appraisals.
• Resolve member requests and maintain professional business relations with members.
• Coordinate communication and activities with management and other departments.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2-3 years experience as a Teller at a full service financial institution.
• Supervising experience in a similar role.
• Strong math and accounting skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to operate related computer software and business equipment, including 10-key and money counters.

Nice-to-haves

• Certified Teller certification.
• Completion of SMLD Phase I & II training.
