About the position

The Multi-Domain Solutions Division at Leidos is seeking a Lead Integration and Test Engineer to join our team in Reston, VA, Alexandria, VA, or potentially in Dayton, Ohio. This role is pivotal in leading a team responsible for the development of enterprise-level test requirements, planning, and the integration of system hardware, software, and networks. The Lead Test Engineer will oversee verification, validation, and fielding support for network systems, ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of precision, accuracy, and reliability. This position requires a proactive approach to defining and implementing standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting and testing products, as well as leading vendor engagements to evaluate systems and align test requirements. In this role, the Lead Test Engineer will work closely with customers to build and implement effective test strategies, serving as the primary interface with the Chief Engineer. The engineer will facilitate integration into a larger system-of-systems model, identify efficient test methodologies, and conduct design reviews of solutions. Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for identifying and tracking risks associated with integration and validation, facilitating working groups, and conducting both informal and formal technical interchanges. Collaboration with software and hardware subject matter experts is essential to ensure that testing yields expected results, and the engineer will support the development and maintenance of system integration and test plans. The Lead Test Engineer will also diagnose problems encountered during application integration and address fixes or enhancements according to prescribed program processes. Documenting lessons learned and maintaining a robust test discipline for the program is crucial. The engineer will be expected to build and support a culture grounded in Leidos' values and ethical standards while leading and mentoring test team engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team responsible for enterprise-level test requirements development and planning.
  • Oversee system hardware-software-network integration, verification, validation, and fielding support for network systems.
  • Define and specify the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating products.
  • Lead vendor engagements to evaluate systems and align test requirements.
  • Work with customers to build and implement test strategies.
  • Serve as the primary tester interface with the Chief Engineer.
  • Facilitate integration into a larger system-of-systems model with vendors.
  • Identify test methodologies to verify and validate systems efficiently.
  • Conduct design reviews of solutions and review vendor validation methods.
  • Identify and track risks for integration and validation.
  • Facilitate working groups and information exchange in support of program objectives.
  • Conduct informal and formal technical interchanges and formal reviews for integration and test artifacts and milestones.
  • Collaborate with software and hardware subject matter experts to ensure testing produces expected results.
  • Support the development and maintenance of system integration plans and system test plans.
  • Diagnose problems encountered during application integration and address fixes/enhancements according to prescribed program processes.
  • Document lessons learned and develop and maintain a robust test discipline for the program.

Requirements

  • Must possess a minimum of a Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of prior relevant experience or Master's degree with 10+ years of prior relevant experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of test engineering concepts and applying these concepts to Department of Defense programs.
  • Demonstrable knowledge in test automation and test result analysis.
  • Demonstrable experience in design review participation and providing customer-centric input.
  • Demonstrable experience in network topologies to validate functionality, performance, stability, and scalability of features and products.
  • Proven expertise in creating test methodologies and writing test specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with customer representatives, domain experts, and other systems engineers in the development of complex DoD systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in cross-functional planning, coordination, and task execution situations involving the full spectrum of system integration activities.
  • Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience.
  • Experience in integration, test, verification, and validation.
  • Demonstrated experience with Agile program execution and using agile tools (e.g., Jira and Confluence).
  • Ability to travel when needed by the program.
