About the position

The Lead Test Automation Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of software products and clinical applications for a client based in Oak Brook, IL. This position involves a combination of hands-on automation and manual testing, with a focus on improving QA processes and enforcing best practices in test automation. The role requires collaboration with Business Analysts and the Software Development team to identify critical issues before production launches, and it offers the potential for conversion to a full-time position in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and lead the planning, creation and execution of detailed test cases for web-based and mobile user interfaces.
  • Develop or enhance the test automation framework and automation test scripts as new system features are developed.
  • Plan and implement automated testing for all workstreams to improve the overall testing cycle and deliver high-quality products.
  • Organize and participate in test plan walkthroughs.
  • Lead the planning and execution of various types of tests including functional, performance, system, exploratory, smoke, regression, back-end (SQL), front-end, and API tests.
  • Work with the Agile team to analyze gaps between the current product and the desired state, implementing improvements to software products.
  • Assist with project planning, tracking, status reporting, issue management, escalation, resolution, and change control.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and facilitate the correction of defects in the software.
  • Continuously learn, adopt, and mentor others on new testing tools, technologies, strategies, and best practices in test automation.
  • Identify and analyze problems to improve SaaS products.

Requirements

  • Experience in Quality Assurance with an emphasis on automated testing.
  • Prior experience working as a hands-on Lead, driving testing initiatives and managing project tasks.
  • Demonstrated strength in test plan, case, and script development.
  • Strong knowledge of Team Foundation Server (TFS), GitHub, and Release Manager.
  • Experience with Katalon automation testing tool preferred, but experience with Selenium, Playwright, or similar tools will be considered.
  • Experience with Postman for API testing.
  • Experience with Cucumber test framework.
  • Experience in a software product development environment, preferably in the healthcare industry.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Business, or equivalent work experience; Master's Degree (MIS or MBA) preferred.

  • Experience in the healthcare industry is ideal.
